Meet the Recipients of the CCI Nursing Scholarship
Morgan Taylor
Hometown: San Diego, Calif.
Brandman University
Award: $2,000
Morgan is working toward a bachelor’s degree in nursing and plans to receive her BSN-RN and master’s degrees in nursing and dietetics. Her goal is to start her own wellness clinic to help people with their nutrition and fitness. “We need more education in the areas where we see most generational poverty and health decline,” Morgan says. “With my degrees, background, and heart, I know I can help change these communities and influence their lives and health for the better.”
Mya Yorke
Hometown: Wake Forest, N.C.
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Award: $2,000
Mya recently earned her EMT certification with the goal of providing emergency care for others and preparing herself to be a versatile nurse. “Through a variety of experiences leading up to [acceptance into UNC’s School of Nursing], I have learned the beating heart of nursing,” Mya says. “The heart that maintains the integrity of patients and serves others with compassion. The heart that knows even the smallest action can make a big difference in the lives of those suffering. The heart that heals through empowerment and compassion.”
Madison Seay
Hometown: Hueytown, Ala.
Samford University
Award: $2,000
Madison is working toward a bachelor’s degree in nursing with a minor in nutrition. She hopes to continually exemplify the best aspects of humanity to all she meets. Samford Faculty Instructor and Food Lab Director Clara Darling recommended Madison: “I have observed her taking on leadership opportunities during laboratory classes to help her classmates succeed as well. Madison is passionate about being a nurse and does a good job of connecting all aspects of her education to her future career as a nurse.”
We congratulate all of our 2021 winners, who were selected through a competitive process by Scholarship America and our team here at CCI.
